Artist Feature: Beat Bakery
This week here at Sunlit Records, Rusty was lucky enough to sit down and have a chat to dance pop duo sensation Beat Bakery about their smashing new single “So Hot”.
1. Can you share the inspiration behind your new dance-pop single "So Hot"
“We are heavily inspired by uplifting sounds and themes in our music. We like to create songs that touch on real-life authentic emotions. Often they are actually based on specific experiences we have had during our lives. “So Hot” is a story of love and romance. It’s a chemical attraction between two people who intensely like each other. This isn’t the first encounter either! The song explores the alchemy between two people who are soulmates. It began with an initial meeting and stoked up the fire when they first met. The intense chemistry was felt by both people. However, it develops into a lifelong connection which leads to a deep relationship and connection between these 2 protagonists of our story. The song paints the idea that the temperature is rising, which leads to this ever-lasting magnetic desire between the 2 soulmates. It also invites you to let go of inhibitions that are restraining you from fully enjoying this connection.”
2. How did the collaboration with Holly Berry come about?
“We met Holly Berry through Instagram, a way that we have met almost all of our collaborators. Holly studied in the Song Academy and has released quite a few singles recently with other collaborators. We became aware of Holly’s Instagram profile when she released a song last year in August. We then checked out her releases and thought her dreamy/trancey vocals would suit our style perfectly, and the proof is in the pudding with this one! We spoke to Holly about doing a collab and organised a session at a later date. Mike came up with the initial chord progression for this song, in a Classic House vibe. Then we created the topline with Holly last year in September It went through a few recipe tweaks until we were all happy with it. Hypnotyst remixed it into a more summery Clubby House vibe that the track is currently in. We recorded the vocals in Mike’s studio and got the best performances out of Holly with her dreamy vocal style. We released it on January 26 and it has been getting rave reviews and great support since.”
3. How do you envision listeners reacting to "So Hot" when they hear it for the first time, and what emotions or vibes do you hope they experience?
“We always envision people hearing our music and feeling instantly uplifted and inspired to move directly onto the dancefloor to dance to our grooves. We want to inspire people to move as soon as they hear our music! We intend to evoke emotions of freedom, love, joy, happiness and celebration. As well as contentment at finding your soulmate. It also highlights the intense feeling of chemistry you can be overcome with simply by looking at someone. This is an intense attraction to each other’s energy. We want our listeners to be flooded with this feeling of euphoria, A yes, I have found the one and things are getting HOT!”
4. Is "So Hot" part of a bigger idea or plan going forward? What are your goals for 2024?
We always like to think big! “So Hot” will be our first release of 2024 with several other releases lined up. We need to keep the cakes flowing out of the Bakery all year round! We have planned several live gigs, starting with 7th of February in Dublin Castle in Camden. We filmed all our social media content in Camden for “So Hot” so it is very fitting that we shall play the first gig of the year there. We have more tracks ready for release in 2024, sooner than you may think. And of course we are always tweaking our recipes to create the next sensational flavours. The best place to find out about our gigs and stay up to date with our daily news, is of course our social media. We are @beatbakeryuk on every single social media platform in existence
5. Who do you feel are your biggest influences in your music?
“Like most artists, we draw inspiration and are influenced by a vast array of artists. Our main idols are Joel Corry, Tiesto and David Guetta. The masters of UK House designed for Top40 Commercial audiences. We are heavily influenced by their sound and exceptional songwriting. We draw huge inspiration from these artists’ signature sounds and songwriting skill. We also love artists like Gorgon City, Disclosure, The Prodigy and Pendulum. These artists also influence our sound and vision alot, as well as the vibe. These 4 artists heavily influence our songwriting more than our soundscapes. Gorgon City would be the closest to our sound. But we both love The Prodigy as they practically invented rave and several amazing genres of electronic music. We are also both into rock and metal music. Hypnotyst’s favourite band are Nirvana and Mike’s is Steely Dan. However, we only draw inspiration from these artists in terms of catchy melodies and unusual lyrics. In the future, we intend to bring the guitar into our sound.”
